Dick nodded lips curving at the words "it wasn't like us". He squeezed Fleck back.

"Oh, sure," he said, feeling a little guilty for making Fleck talk. He kept expecting his to be fine.

His eyes landed on a little corner shop they will pass.

"Want to get some ice cream?"

That might help numb Fleck's pain while they walk the rest of the way home.

"Mhmm." He definitely wouldn't mind some ice cream.

Even on a good day, when he didn't need to try and numb his tongue, he wanted ice cream.

He hugged Dick closer as they made their way towards the shop.

The shop was small and presumably family owned. The old man at the store front greated them, and Dick greeted him back before heading over the ice creams. It sold both scooped and packet ice creams. He gazed at the flavours longingly before just grabbing a plain ice lolly for himself.

"Which one are you thinking of having? And please let it be the strawberry one."

Just because he couldn't have a whole ice cream didn't mean he couldn't nab his boyfriends.

His nose scrunched up at the suggestion.

"No." He didn't much like strawberries. "Chocolate, please." If there was chocolate around with Fleck there, it wasn't staying around for long.

He reached into his pocket to drag out his wallet.

Dick had paid for too much today.

Dick sighed a little wistfully. It was always worth the try.

He let Fleck pay for it. A euro wasn't something he was going to squabble over.

He then thanked the man and left the shop to head back to Fleck's home. He discarded the wrapper and licked the lolly base to top with a pleased hum. Sure, it wasn't ice cream, but it was still good.

"Could I try yours?"

Fleck glanced down at Dick when he heard the rustle of the wrapper, and did a double take, staring hard as Dick's tongue ran over the lolly.

Well, fuck.

"Uh- Oh, uh-huh." He held out his ice cream for his boyfriend, averting his eyes as he tried to calm himself down a little.

He leaned over and took just enough to get the taste of it.

"... Kind of wished I never tried it now." It tasted so much better. The iced lolly didn't seem so sweet now when he popped it in his mouth and dragged it out.

His gaze jumped skywards when e risked looking back at Dick when he was speaking.

"Lord give me strength," he grunted under his breath.

This had to be some form of torture.

Dick's eye brows knitted into a frown. Sharp hearing picking up on what Fleck grunted.

"Why? What's wrong?" He asked after pulling it out of his mouth again.

"You-" He grimaced. Okay, it was getting beyond a joke to talk now. It was painful and awkward.

He just shook his head and pressed his cheek to the top of Dick's head.

He sorta hoped that Dick wouldn't try to chase that up, too. It wasn't something he wanted Dick to become hyper aware of and stop doing. He liked that Dick had his moments of unintentional sexuality.

His brows knitted tighter together as Fleck pressed his cheeks to his head.

"Me?"

That made no sense.

He slipped it back in his mouth and sucked, staring up at Fleck. He didn't want to badger him for an explanation. He knew his tongue hurt.

But he just couldn't let it go.

"Should I be insulted?"

Fleck shook his head at the question.

No, it definitely wasn't an insult. He thoroughly enjoyed watching that, even if it was sinful and a little uncomfortable to watch in public, and he knew that behaviour wasn't going to go many places when they got home.

He sucked a glob of ice cream into his mouth and moaned as it soothed his tongue a little.

"So..." He listened to the little moan as Fleck ate his ice cream. "It's a good thing?"

Not that he knew what he was doing diffrent to deserve Fleck saying "lord give me strength".

He twisted his hand in the air, in a 'sort of' gesture.

Yes, it was great that his boyfriend was sexy as fuck, but in public it was torture, and he wasn't getting any from said sexy as fuck boyfriend, so the relief that would come later would be by his own hand. Decidedly less satisfying.

But in the future he would very much appreciate the fact that his boyfriend was this sexy.

Dick watched Fleck's hand swirl in the air. He obviously wasn't going to get much of an answer. Especially with how Fleck was at the moment. So, for once in his life, he let it drop.

He finished off his ice lolly, letting it melt away in his mouth then threw away the stick.

"Not as good ice cream."

Fleck hummed in agreement,

Nothing was as good as ice cream. Except maybe ice cream with all the fixings.

The two of them made their way back to the house.

When they stepped inside, they were greeted by a yell from Trisola. Fleck gestured to Dick. He'd have to be the one to greet her back.

Dick was confused for the moment as Fleck gestured, and why he wasn't greeting Trisola back. Then widened his eyes in realisation. Right. Piercing

He yelled back a greeting. Hoping that she heard him - yet also hoping he wasn't too loud.

"Shall we grab a drink first or?"

He cocked his head in the direction to Fleck's room.

He rolled his eyes good naturedly. Dick really needed to speak up more.

Fleck nodded, and headed towards the kitchen.

Munchies found his way to them when they passed the opened livingroom door. He settled on Dick's shoulder and pressed his beak to Dick's temple, making his kissing noises.

The kitchen was occupied by Trisola, who was working on making a coffee.

"There you boys are. You weren't gone for long. What did you- What is that on your face, Hank?"

Fleck gave a sheepish shrug. "You knew it was coming." His voice was muffled.

"Oh!" She pressed her hand to her chest, eyes wide. "For twenty years we've been trying to keep you quiet, and now it's finally happened. Go get your father from his workshop. We need to celebrate this."

Fleck rolled his eyes and pushed her chair out of the way as he ducked to open a cupboard and pull out a couple glasses.

Dick didn't flinch as Munchies landed on his shoulder. He has become accustomed enough to all sorts of animals landing on his shoulder in Fleck's house.

"Hey there," he said softly, smiling. His hand ran over Munchies' grey feathers as he entered the kitchen.

His smile turned into a guilty one at her almost horrified expression. A few nerves set in and then washed away when she joked.

He leaned on the counter as he waited for Fleck.

A wet splat landed against Dick's upper back, then Munchies ruffled his feathers and glided over to sit on Trisola's shoulder.

Fleck filled one glass up with milk, something cold and not fizzy that he could drink. He didn't think he was going to get on with fizzy or hot drinks for a while.

Dick straightened his back, then narrowed his eyes the bird.

"You're really not cute anymore."

He straitened up and made his way out of the kitchen.

"I'm going to change my shirt."

At least it was on his shirt this time. Being on a ship for the vast majority of his life, he had suffered this multiple times. Didn't make it any less pleasant.

Munchies just made kissing noises at Dick's retreating back.

Fleck turned around when Dick made his exit, and snorted when he caught sight of his shirt. Poor Dick.

Though it was bound to happen. Birds were terrible for that. He was surprised it didn't happen soon.

He made up a coffee for Dick, then made his way up towards their room with both their drinks in hand.

Dick slipped off his shirt and did his best to get most off with a tissue, face scrunched in disgust. He threw the tissue in the bin and the shirt in the wash basket. Then searched in the closet for a new shirt for himself. Then frowned.

It seemed he didn't seem to have any fresh shirts.

With a sigh, he pulled on one of Fleck's. The smallest one he could find. It still hid his figure and showed off his collar bones.

He padded over to the bed, settling down on it. His fingers burying into the mountain of fur - he was sure Sollew hasn't moved since he left him.

"Please don't shit on me too," he grumbled.

"At this point, I think Sollew is even too lazy to shit," Fleck muttered around his fat tongue as he nudged the door closed with his hip.

He didn't often see Sollew move from his spot on the bed.

He set both the mug and glass on his side table and sat down next to Dick. One hand found Dick's hair, and the other Sollew's fur, giving them both a gentle, loving stroke.

Dick's lips quirked up in a short laugh.

Closing his eyes, he rested his head on Fleck's shoulder as his hands ran through his hair.

"How's the no talking going?"

He lifted his head to look up at his boyfriend, blue eyes twinkling. It didn't take long for them to scan up from his brown eyes to the eyebrow piercing. Still noticeably swollen; the only reason he didn't reach out to touch it.
