He shrugged.

He was naturally quite a chatty person, and it was just nature for people to want something when they knew they couldn't have it.

But he had known what getting the piercing would entail when he had got it done. If he couldn't suffer a couple of days of reduced talking, then he wouldn't have gotten it done.

Dick hummed at the shrug, glad it wasn't bothering Fleck.

But it was bothering him.

A lot more then he expected.

Sure, it was a little funny at first. Now he just wanted them to easily talk to each other again. He didn't know if he could stand a whole two days of this.

His thoughts flickered to what Ti said earlier. Then squashed that thought as quickly as it came with a short sigh.

Fleck just nuzzled against Dick's chest, relaxing as he made himself comfortable.

Even if he couldn't chat aimlessly, he could still relax and enjoy spending time with Dick.

This was nice. He could probably fall asleep like this if Dick carried on playing with his hair like this.

Dick was having déjà vu.

He stared up at the ceiling. Hands in his boyfriend's hair. Sollew on his chest.

The only thing that did change was that they were in fresh clothing.

And Fleck was being sulky.

And Dick thought the no speaking, no kissing thing was bothering him yesterday.

He let out his own sigh and let his hand fall, arm stretched out.

And all he could think of was Ti's little comment back in the studio. Each time it was getting a bit harder to squash.

His tongue was so swollen now that he didn't have a chance of speaking.

He'd managed to at least make muffled awkward speech yesterday, but today he just couldn't bring himself to do it.

So he resigned himself to just laying with his boyfriend and hoping that time would pass quickly. Soon, hopefully, the swelling would go down and he wouldn't be in so much fucking pain.

"So do you think you will be speaking tomorrow?" He asked, looking down to see whatever gesture his boyfriend made.

They have been playing charades all day. That, and having Fleck write down what he wanted to say. but that was just a little awkward. It was just simply not the same.

Fleck didn't even move. Not a single gesture.

He just laid there with his pout, staring at the wall.

Feeling like this? It felt like he wouldnt be able to talk forever. His tongue hurt like a bitch.

Dick just groaned at the lack of answer.

"Shall I take that as a no then?"

He missed kissing his boyfriend too. Not not just a little peck here and there, either.

He thought he would be able to manage that easily - as he had done for over five-hundred years. Turns out he simple managed that because he couldn't miss what he didn't have.

He grunted quietly and pressed his cheek a little closer to Dick's chest.

He just wanted to be able to talk already. It wasn't very often he couldn't talk, and this was just making him uncomfortable now.

Dick's chest raised and fell with another sigh.

Then closed his eyes.

Maybe he could just sleep the next few days away than wake up and find his boyfriend less swollen and caught between wanting to talk to him and wanting to kiss him.

A little voice in the back of his head told him that he could get that in just a couple of hours.

He opened his eyes so he wasn't plagued with any images on how he could easily get to that point.

"Does the eyebrow piercing still hurt?"

His head nodded.

Yes. In the day since he had had his piercings done they, miraculously, hadn't magically healed.

His face hurt. His tongue hurt.

His nose was, surprisingly, not hurting all that much.

Dick sighed again.

He has forgotten how long it could take humans to heal. How long it used to take him to heal.

He lifted his hand up to touch his new piercing. It was completely healed. He could probably changed it over if he wanted too. Although he was fine with the little silver stud for now.

"Maybe we should put the radio on to drown out your sulking."

Despite himself, a little amused huff sounded from him.

Radio.

What year were they in? He did love Dick's little slips and lack of up to date tech knowledge.

Dick raised an eyebrow at the amused huff - a little confused on what he found funny. Obviously something he said.

"Or not," he grumbled, fingers finding he ends of Fleck's hair to give it a tug.

He grunted again when his hair was tugged, eyes flicking upwards unnecessarily. Sollew was still sprawled out over Dick's chest, so he couldn't see Dick if he wanted to.

God, he just wanted to talk.

It was so painful not being able to fill the silence with mindless chatter.

Dick let out his hundredth sigh that day. Then he lifted himself up, very carefully lifting the large can off himself and putting him down beside his leg.

"We should at least do something rather than just lay here."

Normally didn't mind silent companionship; he liked those moments between himself and Fleck. Time just seems to still.

But this was just ridiculous.

He wanted time to speed up.

"A film, maybe? Instead of the radio?"

Fleck grunted when Dick sat up and he slid from his stomach down into his lap, and shifted so he wasn't essentially face-planting Dick's crotch.

He gave a little groan at the suggestion.

Chatting about the film afterwards is most of the fun in watching the films to begin with.

Right now he didn't want to do anything but lay and nap or sulk until he could speak again.

He stared down at his boyfriend. A hand smoothed over the shaven portion of Fleck's head.

"Or not."

He continued to stroke Flecks head gently, fingers skimming along the seam where the long blond strands began.

"Is it bothering you?" An echo of the question from yesterday.

He shrugged, in an echo of yesterday's answer.

Yes, it was bothering him, but he wouldn't have it done if he couldn't deal with it somehow.

He'd get through it, even if the next couple days wouldn't be any fun at all.

Dick lips thinned and he hummed at at Fleck's silent answer.

He could have got a popper answer if he just...

His chest heaved a sigh and knotted his fingers in Fleck's hair.

Fleck leaned into the fingers teasing through his hair.

He couldn't get enough of that feeling. He could enjoy Dick playing with his hair forever and never want to move.

Dick's lips curled as Fleck leaned into his hands.

At least his sulky mood and swollen tongue didn't stop him enjoying this.

He threaded and ran his hands through Fleck's hair. One hand at a time in a slow and steady rhythm. Sometimes having to pull gently if his fingers got caught in a knot.

He melted against Dick's chest, then hissed, pulling back as his nose pressed awkwardly against Dick's chest.

Ouch.

He lifted his hand to his nose, but stopped before he actually touched it. Probably not the best idea.

So he grunted and laid his cheek carefully against Dick's chest again.

Dick stopped as he heard the little hiss, worried for a second that he tugged a little too hard at a knot.

Then realized when Fleck's hand hoovered over his nose.

Of course - it wasn't just the tongue piercing that was swollen and sore. They could easily be healed too.

He ran his hands through Fleck's hair again when he rested his head back on his chest. Eyes back up on the ceiling he licked the top of his lip.

"Maybe," he began. Then stopped.

When Dick's chest vibrated under his ear, Fleck gave a little hum in response. A half-hearted question. He hadn't heard what Dick had said, but when Dick spoke, it was hardly ever for anything frivolous, so it was probably something he should hear.

He didn't move though. The fingers carding through his hair were too nice to move away from voluntarily.
