[C][M] A Twisted Fate

"All right."

Cy pulled away from the man, stepping back with a slight limp. He gunshot wasn't unbearable but it was obvious there was some discomfort in his leg.

Annoying little cut.

The man turned his back on the human, raising his hand to wave as he began walking off down the dark street.

"Bye," he called out.

Rayner stared up in disbelief as the boy stepped away from him and walked off.

That was... unexpected...

He didn't waste any time in pulling up his pants, running to get his gun and stuff it back in his pocket, ignoring the pain in his leg and he jumped in his car and sped home.

Rayner pulled into the apartment complex a short while later, parking his car and quickly climbing the stairs, locking himself safely away in his tiny one bedroom apartment with a relieved sigh.

He ran his hand through his shoulder length, raven hair as he shakily made his way to the bathroom, stripping off and getting under the hot stream of water that billowed from the shower head.

He gave a low hiss as the water hit the wound on the back of his head, washing the blood down the drain as he turned to look at his thigh, he had expected bite marks but the only thing he found were four little holes.

"What the hell..."

He muttered, shaking his head and getting out of the shower, wrapping a towel around his waist and padding into the living room, he didn't want to think about it.

Despite walking away, Cy kept tabs on the man.

When he got in his car, Cy followed behind him in the shadows.

He'd teach the boy some manners. He wasn't going to let someone so rude carry on living the way he did. Honestly, it was Vampire's faults they needed to feed. People being rude to them for needing to feed just wasn't acceptable.

He managed to get into the apartment easily enough. People didn't make houses to keep mice out. He could get under the door so easily it was laughable.

The little white mouse settled on one of the pillows on the couch and waited.

Rayner wandered into his bedroom, drying himself off thoroughly to ward off the cold as he slipped into his pajamas, a simple t-shirt and flannel pants.

He felt better now, a lot better, he would head to bed soon and just wave the nights events off as some drug addicted kid tripping out on him, that was all.

The man made his way back into the kitchen, there was no way he was putting effort into cooking, instead he simply pulled a meal out of the freezer and shoved it in the microwave.

The little white mouse watched the man silently as he moved around the small apartment.

How did the man live in such a small area? It was barely enough space to swing a cat in. He couldn't understand people that could live in such small places.

He definitely couldn't.

Cy curled up comfortably on the cushion, staring at Ray silently.

When would the man notice a mouse sat watching him?

He grabbed his bowl of food out of the mircowave, swirling it around with his fork as he moved into the living area again, heading toward the couch.

He ate all of his meals there, his apartment wasn't big enough to have a dining table in it so he ate in front of the television.

"Oh great...a mouse."

He grumbled in distaste as he stared down at the small create, now he had to set out traps around the place.

"Don't make yourself comfortable, vermin."

He muttered, knocking the cushion it was perched on, onto the floor to shoo it away.

Cy gave a squeak, glaring up at Ray when he was knocked onto the floor.

This man was just so rude.

The Vampire climbed back up onto the couch and settled down again. He wasn't going anywhere any time soon.

Even if he had to play a game of 'avoid the flying objects and giant human foot' for a while.

His dark eyes continued to look up at Ray as she sat down stubbornly again.

Did that mouse just glare at him?

The man stood there gaping as the mouse climbed back on the couch and just made himself at home again.

"Seriously? You're just going to take over my house?"

He asked, shaking his head as he looked around, he didn't have anything to kill it with and after the day he had just endured he couldn't be bothered.

Instead he just sat down on the adjacent couch and flicked on the television, ignoring the rodent as he tried to force down his meal.

Cy gave an affirmative squeak.

Taking over the house sounded like a good idea.

The mouse just watched the human as he moved over to the other couch and began eating. He didn't understand eating. He'd never eaten before. He didn't like the idea of it. He lived exclusively on blood.

Hours passed as Cy just sat and watched the man.

Rayner lived such a pitiful boring existence. He just sat in front of the TV. That was so ridiculously boring. How did he survive with such a boring experience?

This had been relaxing, it was the one part of his day where he didn't need to think or worry, he could just zone out for a while.

Once his meal was done and no other shows interested him he rose from his seat, placed his plate in the dishwasher and grabbed his bag that he had placed by the door.

Reaching into it be pulled out a stack of paper held together by bulldog clips, it was the makings of his next novel, it was his most promising piece so far and publishers seemed enthusiastic about it, a thrilling crime story, delving into the mind of a serial killer in Monte Carlo.

The writing, red as blood.

Fiction, of course, perhaps he had been writing for too long today, it had made his delusional with the boy earlier, perhaps...

With a heavy sigh he threw the papers on the cabinet, no more of tonight, it was already rotting his brain away as it was.

Rayner trudge into his bedroom and shut the door, falling into bed eagerly.

Cy watched the man disappear into the bedroom.

He'd let him sleep tonight. He'd make his move tomorrow night.

The mouse moved off the couch. He needed to find somewhere dark for the day. He couldn't afford to be burnt up.

He chewed a hole through the bottom of the sofa and crawled up into it. This would be a good enough place to hide for now.

He'd rest up and have his fun in the evening.

Rayner woke the next morning with little trouble, thank god he didn't have the night shift again.

Getting changed for work the small marks on his leg were still there, slightly bruised and tender from the night before.

All he had to do was ignore it until it healed over.

The man went to work 8am and arrived home just after sunset, treating himself slightly as he went by his favourite resturant and brought himself a decent meal to bring home and enjoy, as well as a dozen mouse traps.

When the sun went down, Cy crawled out of the couch and stretched out on the couch.

When he had woken up properly, he shifted back, still laying out on the couch comfortably. Maybe the house wouldn't be too bad...

If he pushed the couches back to the edge of the room, there'd be a nice space in the centre of the room. That could be useful. He could make quite a few uses for a space like that.

When he heard the door open, Cy sat up with a grin on his face. "Welcome home, honey," he called out.

As soon as Rayner opened the door as saw the boy sitting on his couch with that haunting grin he shut the door without walking inside, erecting it between as he backed away from his own apartment.

He wasn't going through this again tonight, he didn't want to know how or why the boy got to his home, he just wanted him gone.

He made his way back down the stairs, swiftly pulling out his phone and dialing the police.

Rayner had made the mistake of inviting someone over tonight, a woman to be more precise, one who he had grown quite fond of recently.

Cy tutted playfully as the door was closed.

He stood and followed the man back down the hallways, arms clasped behind his back.

"Ignoring me isn't nice, is it? Your manners are just getting worse."

His grin was wide as he continued to follow behind the man.

He'd sort out the man's attitude soon enough.

He muttered frantically as he glanced over his shoulder to see the boy following him.

Rayner picked up his pace, quickly darting down the stairwell.

Yes, hello, I need the police department, urgently.
...To my location, yes.
A man attacked me last night and now he has followed me to my apartment.

Cy giggled as he listened in on the conversation.

How funny.

Did the human really think that the police could get to him? Honestly? That was delusional. He was hundreds of years older than them. They wouldn't be able to get him no matter how much they tried.

He continued to follow after him.

He wasn't giving up.

Rayner wasn't giving up either, he wouldn't just let this complete psychopath hunt him down.

He rounded the corner and spotted and maintenance room, darting into it swiftly before locking the door behind him.

There was no way the boy was getting in here, not unless he could climb through the third story window.

Rayner looked out of it gazing down at the fall, he would break some bones, but he would survive if it came to that.

Cy leaned against the door, grinning widely.

"A simple piece of wood won't keep me out," he sang.

Ray wouldn't be keeping him out if he really wanted to get into that room. Honestly, it was like the human thought he was human, too.

"I do wonder why you find the need to be so rude to me. I was so kind to you yesterday. I could have been so much less kind."

Ray was alive. That was much nicer than many Vampires would have been.

"You act as though I took from you, you're the one who took from me remember.

Why should I have greet you pleasantly when you were the one who was rude initially.

More than that you have the nerve to follow me home and break into my house.

I don't owe you a god damn thing, just leave me alone."

He replied through the door, glancing out the window, it was always an option if the door didn't hold.

"I was rude, was I?"

His lips quirked upwards into an amused smile. "If my memory serves me right, and I assure you it does, you were the one that was rude first."

The human had yelled at him. That was incredibly rude.

"I don't think I will. You're far too rude for my liking."

Once again he took the form of a mouse and squeezed under the door. He scuttled across the floor, shifting back and pushing himself up to sit on the windowsill.

"I've taken it upon myself to teach the child some manners."

"You were sitting on my car, kicking your feet against the side of it."

He replied, his eyes narrowing at the door in spite, so what, he may have told the kid to fuck off, it didn't mean he had to go full blown psycho.

The sight of the mouse from his apartment made him jump, so when he swore the boy appear behind him be fell forward, scampering across the ground swiftly before he stood up, his back pressed against the door.

"What...how..."

Rayner could feel himself growing pale, ignorance was bliss but he knew what he just saw, it was something his mind could not comprehend.

His hand groped for the door handle, flicking the lock before pushing it open and slowly backing out of the small room, not taking his eyes off of the boy.

"Oh no," he chuckled softly, shaking his head as Ray backed out of the room. "No, no, no."

He pushed himself off the windowsill and almost appeared in front of Ray again. He loved having the speed advantage. He could really mess with humans like this. He loved it.

His hands curled around the man's wrists, pulling him back into the room as he walked backwards.

"We're not going anywhere, honey. You're mine."

He'd already made his decision. He was keeping this boy and teaching him proper manners.

A question had been lingering on the tip of his tongue but he had been dreading the answer too much to mutter it.

"What are you?.."

He whispered as his brows drew together, the anguish of almost knowing was written all over his face.

A his hands were grasped Rayner pulled back, planting his feet to stop himself from being dragged back into the room.

He never wanted any of this, if he had know how deranged the boy was he would have never approached him last night.

"What theories do you have?"

He giggled when the man planted his feet. With one hard tug, he dragged the man inside the room.

Cy kicked the door shut, locked it then broke the handle. "Oops." It'd be fun for the human to try to escape now. He'd have his troubles.

He skipped across the room to sit at the window again.

"How about we start with seeing you down on your knees?"
