Beauty and the Stowaway

Smiley walked soundlessly down the hallways, the small figure of Jenevieve Gladstone nestled in his arms. Every aspect of him seemed to hold an air of eerie silence about it; his breathing, his footsteps, there was even a silence in his thoughts which normally stirred and buzzed restlessly. He wanted to find a place secluded, somewhere he wouldn't be disturbed with her so he could let his mind take in more of who she was.

His eyes then fell upon the Library. Any place with textual knowledge within this crowd of vampires was bound to be desolate. The little grin appeared on his face as he strode into the room, finding an area secluded behind some of the rows of shelves and sat cross-legged. He placed Jenevieve gently on the floor before him and let his eyes wander up and down her body, trying to gather as much information as they could before she stirred.

Jenevieve laid there, still passed out from her excessive drinking. A woman of her small size was not able to handle so much alcohol, and she knew it too. Typically she was much more careful, but she had been caught so off guard that she actually wanted to get plastered. And plastered she became. She laid there, completely still. She would have almost looked dead were it not for her large chest rising and falling with every deep breath she took. Finally, after a few moments, she did in fact stir, her brow furrowing a little. Her lips pursed into a slight frown and she whimpered out softly, rolling over onto her side, closer to the mysterious man that had taken her.

Smiley rested his index finger and his thumb on the point of her chin to carefully turn her face up so he could gaze upon her face and continue to take in her features. He enjoyed the curve of her jawline and the softness of her skin. He liked how everything seemed to fall into place with her appearance... He liked it and he found it annoying at the same time. She could be just as if not more fascinating in simple attire. Perhaps a pearl nightgown.

He thought about the soft whites of the dress ebb and flow with gentle swirl of her ivory hair in the waves of a calm pool. He ran his fingers through her locks and caressed her scalp softly, still holding her face with his other hand. His own face held an expression of interest and amusement and didn't flinch when she stirred.

"Angel I don't think we're in Kansas anymore~"

Jenevieve let out another small whimper as Smiley ran his fingers through her hair. She reached her hand up and took his, entwining their fingers and pressing his hand to her cheek, cradling it and rubbing her face against it lovingly.

"Mmmmh... T-Thomas...." She said softly, a little smile coming to face, her features much softer then the normal look of indifference or judgmental frowns she carried when not sober.

His eyes narrowed slightly at her response, something he was not expecting, but he didn't move. So this must be who she mourns... He noted this and added it to the list of things that interested him about her. He let his thumb trace over her lower lip and compared the feel of her crimson lips to that of soft flower petals, a feeling he never cared for, like the feel of pastels. He pulled back his thumb and rested it on her cheek again.

"Wake up. Thomas isn't here and he won't be anytime in the future." He said this with a low quality in his voice, not necessarily compassionate, but not hard either.

Jenevieve kissed his thumb as it traced across her bottom lip, still believing he was in fact Thomas in her drunken state. Once he pulled away, once his voice told her to wake up and that Thomas was not there, her brow furrowed into one of utmost pain. She stirred again, and held his hand with both of hers now, a little tighter then before.

"Please come back...." She begged, eyes still closed, her voice wrecked.

As if it was a laceration on his face the small smile stayed on his lips, purely from his amusement at the situation. He carefully moved his hand back behind the base of Jenevieve's skull, supporting her head as he raised her face near his.

"He's not coming back. Your laces and ebonies won't work." His tone was soft, but not gentle. He enjoyed the soft caress of her breath near his face, it reminded him of a summer breeze, one of the things he missed about daylight. His lavender eyes moved constantly drinking in the curves of her face, her features smooth like the face of a china doll. Behind his teeth his tongue licked the smooth surface of his canines picturing her face to feel this way against his mouth, smooth and slick.

He put his lips near her cheek and exhaled his breath onto her skin, returning the favor she bestowed on him by jogging his memory of the summer air.

Her eyes opened weakly once he lifted her face near his. They were glazed over, and clearly she wasn't all the way present in her current state. The bright red color from her eyes flickered and glowed faintly in dimly lit library.

She gazed at him, a sort of longing behind her drunken weary eyes.

"But...but..." She mumbled, stopping from speaking when he leaned in closer and had his lips near her cheek. She closed her eyes again and held onto him, clinging to the front of his shirt. She let out a soft little cry, leaning her head down into the nape of his neck, her body trembling slightly.

He didn't like this. He didn't like this at all. Her drunkenness had reduced her to some kind of blubbering mess, not at all amusing to him. He pulled her away from his body, holding her by her shoulders and looked into her eyes, which were red and swollen from sadness.

"Stop that." He stated flatly, his eyes had an unreadable quality, no emotion could be drawn from them, but it was clear he was hiding something.

"Crying isn't going to resurrect anyone or anything. You're just wasting emotions." He shook her a little, just kind of a jostle, and moved his hands up to her face to hold her cheeks so she could stare into his eyes.

"Don't waste my time."

Jenevieve kept her eyes closed as she wept softly, little tears streaking down her soft rosy cheeks. Even as he gave her a little shake she just flopped around in is hold, hanging her head, sniffling and crying.

"T-then what do I do?" She asked, voice in a suffocated near whisper, still not looking up. Her small frame continued to shiver.

His grip on her face slackened slightly and his eyes narrowed.

"Don't do. Don't think. Let it come to you. What do you see when you close your eyes? What do you hear when you shut out the world? If it's the man named Thomas I don't care. Those matters are meaningless now. Tell me something, the first thing in your mind."

He pressed his nose to her's, their foreheads touched.

"Open your eyes." He commanded quietly to her and he caressed her thumbs over her cheeks to feel her tears, how they disgusted him, how they reduced her. He didn't like her without the fire. Angels are useless if all they do is blubber.

She opened her eyes weakly, gazing into this mysterious man's eyes. She didn't recognize him in the condition she was in as the man that had harassed her on her journey to this Coven. She tried to focus in on him, trying to will her mourning tears away.

"I don't understand." She whispered, confused and heartbroken, drunk and helpless.

His lips fell into a straight line across his face as his hands dropped into his lap. He was disappointed in her, her flame smoldered by spirits and a pathetic excuse for a depressed state. He leaned back against the bookshelf and gazed at the wall behind Jenevieve's head, his eyes emotionless.

The corners of his mouth then began to curl into a little smirk and from his throat he began to hum "Whispering" by Paul Whiteman. His eyes closed lightly as his fingers drumming against his thigh and then opened a moment later to look at Jenevieve, whistling the melody now.

The cheery upbeat melody of his hum conflicted with the expressionless look in his eyes which was apparent even with his somewhat animated face.

Jenevieve wavered some once he let go of her, almost again stumbling over. But she was able to keep herself up, albeit shifting back and forth woozily, threatening to fall back yet again. Somehow she managed to stay up.

She gazed at him with confused and swollen eyes. Even if she were not intoxicated he would have puzzled her. A little sad simper came to her face and she then pursed her lips as well, beginning to whistle along with him. She knew this tune, buried far back in the nearly forgotten places of her mind. She kept her eyes focused on his as well as she could, and though she was not able to get the notes completely correct from her absence of sobriety, she was able to follow along pretty well.

Smiley's brow raised slightly when she began to follow the melody with him and he smiled slightly behind his whistle, tapping his foot on the floor to help keep the tempo. He continued to whistle as he bent forward and started unlacing Jene's boots, pulling them off her feet. They looked constraining to him. He rested her feet in his lap and continued to whistle, watching her like a hawk. It would be entertaining to him if she toppled over at any moment.

He put his hands on her feet and tapped his fingers against them as he finished up the tune. The smile stayed on his lips.

"You're really pathetic right now. I won't let you forget this when your intoxication lets up." His smile grew a little wider as he tapped his fingertips.

Jenevieve let him take her shoes off, little black socks on her feet. She even let him place her feet on his lap. She lent back and supported herself on her arms, bobbing her head a little as she whistled. Her snow white hair had begun falling out of its tie and flowed down her shoulders. She wiggled her toes as he tapped his fingers against her.

She let out a soft twitter once the song was done, the sadness and longing still evident in her tone, but much less so then before.

"I'msure I'll deny it t'the end." She slurred, tilting her head to the side, smiling at him, her eyes still puffed up.

"Who are you anyway?" She asked, still wiggling her toes. "You seem familiar..."

"Lay down." he said tapping his fingers against her toes, leaning his head against the bookshelf.

"I'm someone you don't like." He said this bluntly, finding no use in lying to someone who wouldn't remember the conversation anyway.
...He did wonder what he could get away with though.

"If I ask you to do anything will you do it?" He questioned calmly, staring at the ceiling.

Jenevieve did not lay down. She continued to gaze at him, her brow furrowed slightly, the sad small smile still on her face.

"No. I most certainly would not." She chortled. "Especially if you're someone I apparently do not like." Despite being drunk it was clear that her bluntness was returning to her.

"Why do you even ask?" She questioned, eyes hooding slightly. She pulled her legs from is lap and crawled in closer to him. "Are you the kind of man that likes to take advantage of a helpless drunk woman?" She jeered as she put her plump lips up near his ear, her voice in a near whisper.

Smiley turned his face to the side so he was looking away from her, eyes hooded, his smile reduced to a fine line once more. his disappointment in her was steadily raising, his interest in maintaining an interesting conversation with her diminishing.

"I honestly don't think I would want to take advantage of you in this state if my life depended on it. It would be too easy." He stated this calmly as he folded his hands into his lap, entwining his fingers together.

"I just wanted to see if I could get you take off your clothes." He said this in a very nonchalant manner.
"I want to know what you're hiding from everyone."

Jenevieve froze at his response, her eyes growing wide in surprise. She leaned back on her knees, her expression one of shock. A few moments of silence passed by, when finally a large grin made it's way across her face.

She started off giggling, but that eventually grew into an all out laughter. She held her stomach and leaned against the bookshelf as she laughed loudly. Every now and then a little hiccup would escape her chortles, but that didn't cause her to stop.

"You're curious to know what is under my clothes?" She asked, starting to gain composure, but not much. "Well good sir you could've just asked and I'd be happy to tell you."

She bowed her head in close to him as if about to tell him a great secret.

"I'm hiding... bloomers!" She snorted and fell over, face down, continuing to crack herself up, kicking her feet a little from drunken amusement.

He sat there in a silence and watched her topple over in drunken amusement. Smiley had lost. He was defeated. He realized that it was officially physically impossible to have an interesting conversation with this woman. He let out a little defeated sigh through his nose and started to stand up, brushing off his torso as if ridding himself of the essence her person. He looked somewhat tired as he shoved his hands in his pockets and stepped over Jene's chuckling figure and began making his way out of the library.

He started humming "Whispers" again as he strode.

Jenevieve would not have even noticed him leaving were it not for the fact that he began whistling again. She heard it coming from a few feet away from her, getting quieter still. She tried to sit up, looking over at him as he strode away, blinking a few times.

"H-hey wait... where are you going?" She asked, amusement still behind her voice. She swished her hair around so it draped to one side of her shoulder, getting it out of her face.

"Away." He called back to her, his footsteps silent, a little smile on his face.

"You're welcome to join me if you can stand on your own two feet." He extended his elbow to the side in an escorting position, not turning around or ceasing his steady forward motion.

Jenevieve frowned, the lighthearted disposition leaving her. She tried to get to her feet, grabbing the book shelf and pulling herself up.

"B-but surely you can't just leave me here." She said, trying to smile, sounding a bit exasperated. "I don't even know where I am... and I'm in no condition to find my way around..." She frowned even more when he didn't stop walking.

"Don't abandon me like this, please." She called out weakly, trying to steady herself. She truly was pathetic in this state of mind, and it killed her to realize it. She hoped she would remember this the next time she was tempted to let herself go. This is what she got for listening to the other's advise and letting lose. She should have known better. She scolded herself internally as she gazed up at Smiley, hoping he'd have some sort of mercy on her.

His eye twitched a little at the pathetic tone in her voice, but he found himself ceasing his advancement. He stood there with his hands in his pockets and didn't move a muscle. Why should he stop? She was obviously boring in this state of inebriation... But he was curious. Why should he hold himself back?
He wouldn't.
Smiley turned his head back and look at Jene over his shoulder, his lavender eyes flicking a little in the low light.

"Well hurry up then Angel."
