[AU][C] More Jumps

Dick slid onto the ice to finish off his warm up with a couple of laps around the ice.

His and Giacinto's session started soon. As always he was excited and eager to start it. 

After their first session, Dick began to come a little earlier to warm up. He didn't want it to eat into their time together.

He picked up his pace, zipping around the ice. Heartbeat racing. Then slowed down. Pushing and pulling his limbs to make sure they were well stretched.

Giacinto glided across the ice towards Dick, grin on her face as she scrolled through instagram.

"All warmed up and raring to go?" she asked, falling into step beside him, not lifting her gaze from her phone.

Chrys' children had hijacked his phone and the resulting images that had made their way up onto instagram were adorable. Those kids were sweet as sugar sometimes.

"Ready as ever."

He slowed to a stop as she made her way over to him. 

"Do I even need to ask what we are doing this session?"

He could guess; Jumps, jumps, and more jumps. Getting back to the basics, as they have been for the past week.

"Lutz jump this week."

Her eyes peeled away from her screen.

"When you can reach landing ten singles well in a row, move onto twenty doubles in a row."

She gave a big, bright smile.

"Go. Do."

He gave her a deadpan look.

She was pure evil.

"Going and doing", he called out. 

He hasn't practiced a lutz since he demonstrated the jumps he could do. Like with all the other jumps, he can land them but never perfectly. And Giacinto looked for perfection.

He began to practice. 

Ass hitting the ice on the first try.

He groaned as he got up and tried again. Taking his time. Carefully thinking about the move before executing it. 

He landed it the second time round. It was far from perfect but it was a start.

Giacinto fed off his fed up attitude.

She loved that he hated it, but still did it, because... how had he put it? He felt like he was standing still in the here and now, but after a while it was like reaching candy land.

He knew that it was boring work that no one wanted to do, but he still did it because he knew it would improve his overall performance down the line.

She gave a little snort when he fell flat on his ass, snapping a picture. Straight on instagram.

He attempted a few more goes. A few perfect landings mixing with his wobbly ones. Just not enough to start a ten perfect landing streak.

Blue eyes glanced to Giacinto to see her expression and gauge how well he was doing.

All he noted was that her bloody phone was still out.

"You better not be taking more pictures of me!"

There was nothing more embarrassing then coming home, looking at his Instagram feed and finding a load of pics of him on the ice. She even managed to capture some just as he is falling and pulling the most ridiculous face.

Giacinto's eyes flicked up and she gave a 'butter wouldn't melt' smile.

Of course she was taking more pictures of him, and she wasn't scared to let him know that she was.

"Ten, Richard. Go. Do."

He returned a sarcastic grin back.

She was defo taking pictures of him. And there was no way he could stop her. He was pretty sure she could race him around the rink all day - especially with her past as a hockey player.

"As I said, going and doing."

He returned to jumping. The wobbly ones becoming less frequent until finally...

"Yes!" 

Ten in a row. Perfectly landed.

Oh, she could definitely out-skate Dick. He had no chance of stopping her from taking photos of his embarrassing moments. It was just his cross to bear.

She dropped her phone in her pocket for long enough to clap when he landed his ten.

"Well done, Richard! Now I want twenty doubles." A much more difficult feat.

He grinned at her, determination set in his face.

They were only twenty minutes into the session. He should be able to land twenty doubles perfectly. If not he will continue without her.

"Okay."

He breathed. Remembering the patience he has learned over the past two months. He wasn't going to rush this.

He managed to land the first four, then fell on fitch. Grunting as his fell flat on the ice.

"One," she called out when he fell.

She'd taken to yelling out how many times he messed up on doubles.

It frustrated him, and that frustration motivated him to do better. It also annoyed the living crap out of him, which was just an added bonus. She really did love watching him twitch between getting angry at her and channelling his anger into his work.

"Really?" He yelled out as she began counting.

He was not letting that number reach higher then.

He attempted it again. Then fell flat on his ass. Again.

"Two!" she yelled out with a grin.

"Come on, Richard. Focus on the jumps. Impatience just leads to an embarrassingly high number."

He didn't want that number any higher than it already was, did he?

"I am focussing."

It was a little hard to when every time he fell the number when up.

But she was right. It is what he has been telling himself all session. Patience is key.

He didn't go straight back into the jumps. He looped around the ice to calm himself down. Once. Then twice. 

Shoulders relaxed he then went back into the jump. Falling into a routine again. He landed each time. Soon building up to twenty in a row. 

But only a couple fo them landed cleanly.

He huffed and looped around the rink to try again.

Giacinto had taken to playing snake while she waited for Dick to decide he was done with jumps.

There wasn't a lot she could do at the moment.

Repetition was a good method, but it didn't leave a lot for the coach to do.

Again and again, he repeated them. As with the single jumps the clean landings were in the minority. Then they slowly built up the majority.

"Fucking finally!"

Dick cheered to himself. Twenty in a row. Perfectly landed.

He grinned to Giacinto. 

And they still had five minutes to go!

"Great going."

She smiled at him, slipping her phone into her pocket.

"Next week we'll work on the flip jump. Take a couple laps and wind down." He titled her chin, gesturing for him to go.

"Thanks for that brutal training again."

He grinned, pleased with himself.

Will do.

He skated around the ice, taking in slow and steady, lowering his heart beat.

"You won't mind helping me with stretches?"

He was going to rinse those last few minutes. Besides, he hasn't had anyone to help him since he has been here.

"Chrys could learn something from you." Chrys never thanked her for her lessons any more. The best she got was a muttered 'youre crazy'.

"Sure."

Tony glided forwards to meet him.

Dick met her at the gate. Stretching his upper body as he glided over.

as soon as he was off the ice he slipped off his skates. For now he left them on the benches and settled on one himself. 

Not the most ideal situation, but it will do. He didn't want to waste Giacinto's time by going up to the changing room.

"Could you just push down on my back?"

Giacinto unlaced her boots and set them aside.

"Sure."

Her hands found his back, pushing down firmly.

He leaned down, feeling the stretch down his spine and along the back of his legs. The tips of his fingers passed toes, and his chest only a few inches from touching his knees.

"That's fine - justing going to hold it here for a few seconds."

Her hands stayed firmly on his back as he stretched.

"Well now, I think your flexibility has gained you an admirer."

She smirked and eyed the man that was quite openly staring at the two of them. It was a man she recognised, and knew fairly well.

"With a pencil."

True to her words, the young man was sat, eyes darting back and forth between the two of them and his sketchbook as his pencil moved across the page.

"Huh?"

It was awkward to look for his "admirer" bent over with his arms held out in front of him. The idea of someone watching them brought colour to his cheeks.

He hadn't notice anyone come in or out throughout their session.

"They are drawing us?"
