Adjusting to a New Environment

Rico prowled through the forest, curling up at the foot of a tree with a yawn, resting his head on his paws. This place would do. He would never admit that he liked it here, but he did. Once you got past the various other species, anyway. And he didn't plan to be spending much time around them at any rate.

The wolf stretched with a whine, turning in a circle before getting into a more comfortable position.

The female in his pack that he had met had been nice... which surprised him, to be honest. Werewolves were not generally known for their patience, and if he had acted like he had around most other wolves, they probably would have snapped at him. He did wonder about the rest of the pack, though. Would they be as mild-mannered as her, or different?

Zeke had decided to stretch his legs when he caught wind of familiar scents, Taylor and Moe.
They had long since departed but a new scent still lingered.
He knew automatically that it had to be another wolf, it didn't smell elven and it was impossible for a vampire to be out at this time during the day, especially since the sun was beating down brightly.

The large black wolf slowed it's pace when he saw the young one curled up beneath a tree.
He stood beneath the shade of an opposing tree and let out a loud bark, his body tense as always when he encountered someone new, the fur on his back bristled in anticipation of hostilities.

Rico froze, quickly standing, his head lowering as he inspected the newcomer with sharp silver eyes, his posture tense. Keeping his distance from the larger black wolf, he paced up and down nervously, ears pricked up. He preferred to stay in his wolf form for the moment, in case the other male attacked.

Who are you?
Zeke growled at the young wolf, his ears slanting back as he leaned his head in closer to the male, taking in his scent.

His distrust of new coners had intensified now that he called this place home, he had friends here now, people to protect.

This was more like his old pack. He hadn't been used to Moe's gentleness, and didn't quite know how to deal with it. This was a lot more familiar. The wolf crouched into a defensive position, silver eyes watching him warily.

No threat. I've come to join the pack. I'm Rico.

He would be ready for an attack if one came.

He repeated with a snarl in his tone, he stood over the smaller wolf, inspecting him.
My name is Zeke, welcome to the pack.
His stance and tone sounded anything but welcoming.

He growled softly in warning at the snarl, keeping his defensive position, ears flicking back nervously.

Well, thank you for such a kind welcome.

Rico really hoped that this wasn't the alpha. This was more like the "social" activity he was used to, but that didn't mean to say he liked it. His body lowered to the floor so that he could either attack or run easily if necessary.

Zeke stepped back, moving away from the new comer.
You have more self restraint then I do, I'll give you that.
He was pleased that the other wolf hadn't got hostile, if he were in the same position he would have gone straight for the throat.

He was slightly unnerved by the fact he could faintly smell Taylor and Moe on the young wolf, had they met this one already?

(Lol Zeke really didn't pick up on the sarcasm, did he? XD)

He relaxed slightly as the other wolf made some distance between them, but still stayed on his guard, watching him warily. Somehow he got the feeling that he had passed some sort of test.

You caught me on a good day.

It was somewhere between a joke and a warning. The wolf cocked its head playfully at the larger Lycan, watching to see if he would respond well or not.

Well then don't get near me when you have a bad day.
He said in warning, Zeke had very little patience when it came to most people and he would have no regrets about tearing this one into shreds.

He let out a sigh and started walking back toward the manner.
You can come if you want, I'm hungry.

Rico followed the other male cautiously, keeping either behind or alongside him. He wasn't going to trust this one with his back. But then, at least this one was open with his anger. He was even more wary around those who concealed their emotions. You could never tell what they were thinking.

Hunting or the kitchen?

Hunting.
He said simply, quickening his pace.
There is a river up ahead where the dear stop to drink.
Zeke wasn't phased about having the male behind him, he doubted that the man was hostile at all, unless provoked that is.
He stopped and crouched when he neared the river bed, staying low in the grass to watch for weak doe's.

He picked up speed to keep up with the larger wolf, keeping his distance as they hunted. Something told him it would not be a good idea to clash over food, and he was not the type to beg. He would hunt his own food, thank you very much. Choosing a spot slightly downriver, he waited near a calmer pool, hiding in the trees. The does would not want to drink from fast-running water, so this was probably his best bet. He crouched, waiting.

His ears pricked up as a young buck approached cautiously, bending its head down to drink. Circling around to avoid the direction of the wind, he crouched. And then sprung, snapping at its haunches. The buck took fright, and started to run as the wolf's jaws narrowly missed it, but the werewolf lunged again, this time sinking his teeth deep into its side.

Zeke spotted a doe fast enough as it walked along the river.
With his speed and strength he rarily had to rely on being stealthy.
Instead as the doe got close enough he pounce on top of it from his heigher vantage point.
Balling he creature off of it's feet, pinning it beneath his body and wrapping his jaws around it's throat, killing it quickly.
He growled happily and pulled the doe away from the river.
He glanced over to the younger wolf, smirking softly watching the younger struggle slightly with a buck.

He caught Zeke's gaze out of the corner of his eye and growled to himself softly under his breath, suddenly feeling as though he was in competition. Cocky bastard. He brought the buck down, snapping its neck as his teeth punctured its jugular quickly. The buck froze for a second, then sagged against the grass, wild, wide eyes slowly glazing over. The younger wolf released it, happily tearing into the dead animal's throat, pawing at its side.

Zeke could not help but chuckle watching the younger lycan.
He settled himself down in front of his kill and proceeded in tearing it apart with his teeth, eagerly feeding on the tender parts of the animal.
He was not excessively hungry so most of the animals would end up staying here, to be fodder for crows and other such animals.
He growled happily to himself, nothing was more satisfying then feeding on a fresh kill while in this form.

What are you laughing about? he growled, looking up with a mouthful of deer.

He wasn't sure what to make of the other wolf. He annoyed him, but at the same time, it kind of entertained him to be annoyed at him. They could be friends in a "you really piss me off" sort of way. Maybe. If he was feeling nice at the time.

The wolf ripped another shred off the buck carcass with a sulky growl under his breath, taking his irritation out on the dead animal. Stupid, idiotic, cocky bastard...

Zeke shook his head and smirked.
Just wondering how long you last in the pack without riling someone up the wrong way. Perhaps you will beat my record, got in a fight with the Beta of the pack within my first two days on the estate.

He chuckled and ate another mouthful of doe.
Watch out for Aodh, he likes to go straight for the neck.
Zeke was still unsure about this new wolf, though he figured as long as he didn't go sniffing around Moe he had no reason to hate the guy, plus he was having quite a bit of fun being able to annoy the boy simply with his presence.

The wolf snorted. Yeah, you would have, wouldn't you?

He wasn't really worried about the other werewolves being too hostile. A bit of bickering was usual in a pack, most lycans having quite hot tempers, and most fights either ended in a grumpy truce, or one surrendering. You had to seriously piss an alpha or beta off to actually be killed. And, though he was mildly irritable a lot of the time, he didn't tend to engage in death fights.

Zeke chuckled and finished up his meal, licking his muzzle clean.
Yeah well, like I said, we will see how long you last.
Best learn to make a good first impression if you plan on getting along well with the twins

He simply abandoned the rest of his kill and took a drink from the river.

Seems like I'll have to make a good first impression with everyone. He rolled his eyes a little.

He didn't like having to guard his behaviour all the time. But he was more likely to be amicable to his pack than the vampires and elves and whatever else was here. Even if the rest of his pack were a little snarly towards him, he could look after himself. If you couldn't look after yourself as a werewolf and a gypsy, you really wouldn't last very long.

Zeke chuckled softly and nodded.
Now you're catching on.
If you don't mind getting the stuffing kicked out of you, by all means, act however you please.

Zeke kicked at something on his foot, he always tired a pair of pants around his ankle when he decided to go for a long run, just in case, walking around the woods naked was generally not a good idea around here.
He went behind a shrub and change back into his human form, quickly slipping on his pants and walking back out, stretching his arms in the air.

Rico twitched in irritation. He would try, but he couldn't promise anything. The werewolf changed back into his own human form as the other wolf walked out from behind a bush.

He wasn't so shy about his own body, and didn't bother keeping clothes with him. Not so much from a show-off or whorey sort of way, but more in an "we're all guys, so what?" kind of way. His old pack had never really cared about things like that. As they all lived and travelled together, you were bound to walk into each other's tents at awkward times by accident, so there wasn't much point in being shy.

But he wasn't quite sure he trusted an unknown wolf with his, err, more vulnerable anatomy, and so he lay down, rolling onto his front comfortably.

"From your scent I can tell that you earlier had a run in with Moe and Taylor,
Am I right in assuming they showed you around?"

He walked back over, sitting contently on the grass, his earlier hostilities had melted away, probably due to his now full stomach and quenched blood lust.
"I would make it a priority to meet our Alpha, find him before he finds you."
He added with a chuckle, Alek was nice guy so it would probably benefit the young one greatly to talk to him.

He cocked his head, confused about the sudden change in Zeke's temperament, but nodded. "Yes, they seem nice enough. Though I'm not entirely sure I trust the elf."

The werewolf fidgeted, a hand ripping up a tuft of grass. He didn't feel as though he had eaten enough, but Zeke didn't look like he was going to scavenge his kill, so he could always go back to it later.

"What's he like?" If Zeke and the Beta were apparently quite tough, he dreaded to think what the alpha would be like. But then, it was nothing he couldn't deal with.
