Hyde Awakens

As if in slow motion, air fills the breast of the young woman laying in bed and exits gradually through her nose, draining out of her like waves pushing away from the ocean. The room is still because she is asleep as she has been for weeks now, only stirring to be fed. Her sleep is a hallow sleep; dreamless in its quality and it only rests her body, not her numbed mind. There is a small golden hue about the room from the drawn curtains, suggesting it is daylight. The concept of time has been lost to the woman laying in the bed however, she only knows the times her brother or his woman come in to feed her.

Something about this day however is different... She has awoken on her own accord, something that hasn't happened before. Soundlessly her eyelids turn open so she may gaze up at the ceiling in silence. It's as if her mind has had a thick fog over it, not from the hypnosis case on her by her brother's woman, but her exhaustion has put a mask over her thoughts. But now the fog begins to turn and evaporate in her wounded brain, the strength she has lost has been restored to some extent.

The longer she remains conscious the clearer her thoughts become. Memories like images on a screen flicker in her mind; memories of her brother's comforting face alternate rapidly between memories of him pinning her down to the kitchen floor. Memories of his woman appear too, her face becoming increasingly tired the closer the memories get to the present. She also recalls instances of the woman plastering her influence into Arzu's brain, controlling her.

Arzu's breathing grows faster in her chest, pumping air in and out, no longer in slow motion. Her eyes are wide, as if trying to look beyond the ceiling. She cannot find the drive inside herself to starve... She cannot find her pinning to die that used to fill her body so readily. On tender legs she pulls herself out of the bed and walks over to the mirror, using the frame of the bed to support herself, though she can feel an strength she hadn't felt in decades has returned to her.

She approaches the mirror cautiously, staring at the color that has been replenished to her face. With shriving hands Arzu pulls all of her clothing off her body, letting it tumble to the floor. She examines her stark naked body, something she had once avoided at all costs. A small, defeated gasp escapes her lips as she views the decently restored features of her body. Her hands grab for the replenished skin around her hips, on her breasts, cradling her once skeleton-like thighs. If this had been the same time last year she would have tried to cut the flesh away from her body.

Something was holding her back now, some presence in her mind was keeping her from finding a sharp object in the room to strip of the alien tissue on her body. Frustration fills the empty void in her mind that once contained loathing. Shaking, she crumples into a ball on the floor, mind conflicted with heart. Her wants to die are gone and all that is left is nothingness, blank slate... But in an instant something else grasps this untouched canvas.

Anger.

The shivering stops. The threat of tears leaves her. Something new has entered her heart and for once in her life she is not afraid. She is angry. How selfish must her brother be to thrust her into recovery against her will, as if she were but a mindless rag doll to be stuffed once more. How inhumane was it to wipe Arzu's mind of her desires with that vampire by his side. If he truly wanted her to heal he wouldn't have her mind invaded.

These angry thoughts tore at her brain, filling the empty crevices with blackened longings. For the first time in many months fur began to grow up from Arzu's tanned skin, claws burst through her nails, her face stretched into canine features as fangs pushed through her gums. She groaned out, painful was the long absent transition, but she embraced that pain.

Now a beast, a deep howl erupted from her lungs as she scratched her nails into the carpeted floor. Blind with her new found rage she tore apart the furniture around her, scraping the walls, running her body into the door with low cracks of splintering wood. She didn't want death anymore. She wanted chaos. She wanted to release the anger that had formed in her body and by desecrating the room around her she only found a stronger longing for destruction.

She was giving in to her monster.

Tahir had been on his way to see his sister. He wanted to tell her the news of how he was going to be a father soon.

It had been awhile since he had seen her conscious last, and he had planned to just tell her even if she was still in her comatose like state.

He wasn't too far from the room when he heard the howl erupt in his ears. The man's heart dropped into his stomach, his eyes widening.

Had she..!?

He began sprinting the rest of the way down the hall, transforming into his lycan form as well in mid sprint. It shred his clothes right off his body, but he didn't care. Clothes were just material possessions anyway, nothing of real value.

He busted the door open with his large wolf body, silver eyes taking in the destruction. He saw his sister, wrecking havoc as a four legged beast.

How could she do this? She wasn't only destroying her own property, but Alexis's belongings as well. Alexis had saved her life, given up so much for her so that she could make a road to recovery.

And this was her thanks.

An angry and warning growl rumbled out of his chest.

"Arzu! What has gotten into you?!" He snapped, his tone harsh in her mind.

And there was the brother, not missing a beat, entering in to eliminate her decisions. She heard him in her head, but it was muddled against the anger, as if her brain was turning into solely the monster's as well.

She snaps at her brother with her long canine teeth and growls deep from within her chest. He's blocking her exit, her path of destruction, the path she needs to take. Her body aches to destroy.

She leans back against the balls of her heels, her ears pointing back, teeth bared, and pushes herself forward, ramming between Tahir and the door. She's small enough to slip between the two, but she has to shove against Tahir and she scrapes her side against some of the splintered wood on the door frame.

She races down the hallway as fast as she can, knowing her brother is faster, but she ducks between doorways and through halls trying to lose him, knocking things over in her path, trying to find a way outside.

She needs to tear something in half. She needs to destroy something beautiful.

His sister was fast, but she was also frail. Tahir cursed at himself for letting her get past him. In an instant he was behind her, dodging the obstacles she managed to knock over. He was close, so close to catching up with her.

Finally he leaps, landing just over the top of her. He bites down on the back of her neck and pins his body over hers, growling as if to warn her. He didn't want to hurt her, but he couldn't let her roam lose like this.

He didn't even know her anymore. His sister was not like this, who was the person that had taken her place? He didn't know, but he didn't like her either. He hated this person Arzu had become. She had taken the girl he grew up with and loved away from him.

"Get control of yourself." He growled, his teeth still sunk into the back of her neck.

He only bit her as hard as he had to. The more she'd try to struggle, the more he'd bite down and smother her.

Arzu felt the teeth of the beast over her sink into her neck and she let out a loud yelp, pain shooting up and down her back. Naturally she struggled against it, feeling the pain worsen with her struggles. Her claws sunk into the floor, dug into the carpet, but she wasn't giving up.

She had a strength in her, fueled by anger now that fought past the burning pain and only made her struggle harder. He would have to give up, he would have to let go, or he would make her bleed out through her neck.

It wasn't suicide if it was murder.

Her large werewolf form thrashed beneath him, the fur of her neck starting to stain with a dark rust color. To ignore the pain she thought of what she would destroy. A small animal maybe? A deer?

A human?

The thought of bones snapping normally put her off, but this time it fueled her, it drove her to the point of blind rage. Nothing could hold her back. As her thrashing amplified clumps of skin started to tear in Tahir's mouth, it was as if she weren't human anymore, just a beast.

Tahir began to panic as he realized that Arzu wasn't calming down. Despite the teeth sinking into her neck she was only thrashing more, ignoring the pain. He really didn't want to hurt her like this.

Silver eyes looked around, wondering if there was anyone that would be nearby to help him. But no one was there, no one in sight.

He remembered the days he dwindled in black magic. Maybe there was a way he could kill this evil spirit inside his sister without harming her. But he wouldn't be able to do it now. He'd have to research it. And that was somewhat hard to do with an out of control monster beneath him.

He flopped his body weight down on her so that he could lighten his grip on her neck. Another growl escaped him from his chest.

"I don't even know who you are anymore! My little sister would never be this way. I want my sister back, I want Arzu back." He said, his muzzle now lightly clamped around the back of her neck, trying his best not to hurt her.

Her body continues to thrash about under her brother, desperate to escape, dark blood staining her fur. His words echo in her head and she feels sick, sick that he's calling her his sister after everything she's done. She doesn't feel like Arzu, she feels like a monster, a beast, and she wants to succumb to it. She wants to act like the beast she is.

"Let me go or I'll turn into my human form and you'll crush me!" she hisses out in her brother's mind. "I'll be dead and it will be on your hands." She feels cruel, disgusting for saying this, but she lets it come, she threatens her brother.

A part of her wants him to hurt like the teeth sinking into her neck.

Tahir closed his eyes tightly, his heart thudding in pain. Slowly he let go of the back of her neck and eased his weight off of her.

He knew this could have dire consequences, but he didn't want to hurt her anymore. How could he? They had been through so much together.

Even if she had changed drastically she was still Arzu, just possessed by her own evil thoughts and intentions.

Arzu felt the weight of the werewolf lift off her body, let go of her neck to release her to do untold amounts of damage to innocent people. She felt her heart leap out of her throat and run forward with more rapidness than she could imagine possible.

But she didn't run. She didn't bolt away. Her body remains still, the complete opposite of the harsh thrashing about she did before.

The anger... It feels faded. She feels calmer, not entirely, but calmer none the less. The werewoman turns her bloodied head back to look at Tahir with surprisingly warm eyes, thankful eyes.

This was him telling her he wouldn't control this moment, he would let her go.

She walks away from him down the hallway, limping slightly, but she is no longer in a fury.

Tahir hadn't expected the calmness to settle inside of Arzu, and when she looked up at him, he felt his blood run cold.

That was the warmest she had looked in such a long time. It reminded him of the girl he once knew, just the faintest trace of the person he called his sister.

His own silver eyes will full of pain, an over bearing pain. The same that had been in his eyes when he found her laying among the carnage all those hundreds of years ago.

The large wolf watched her limp away, and he felt his strength give out. He collapsed on the ground, his muzzle, tongue, and teeth laced in her blood. Normally he didn't mind the taste of blood. But this was nauseating to him.

He closed his eyes, his tail tucking between his legs. A few soft, but agonizing whimpers and whines escaped the beast.

It was in that moment he realized that he couldn't control her, and the more he tried the worst she would be.

He had to let her go.
